There a million fun ways to propose to your girlfriend, in the event she's not one of the majority that wants a romantic proposal

While many women prefer a romantic marriage proposal, some would enjoy something a bit more light hearted. If that is your girlfriend, you need some fun ways to propose marriage. After all, nearly every one uses the walk at the ocean at sunset or romatic, candlelight dinner to propose, but there are some really fun ways that you can use to sweep her off her feet.

You say she may love a candlelight dinner as much as the next girl, but you’re looking for something a bit better suited to her personality? Try these:

Propose During Sporting Events-

You’ve probably seen these before on TV, so you know it’s possible. Take her out to the ball game, and get her name up in lights; on the scoreboard, that is. At most ball parks you can arrange to have your proposal flashed up on the big screen or put up on the scoreboard. After all, it’s great PR for the team, and these things often make the local news. Watch out though, you don’t want her to be off using the restroom when your carefully crafted proposal flashes up on the screen, do you? You have to be ever vigilant, so your face isn’t buried in your chili dog when it goes up there and you miss it too.

The  Up-In-The-Air Proposal

There are several variations of this proposal theme. You can have a skywriter write your proposal in smoke over the two of you when you’re enjoying some outdoor activities together. Another variation is to have them tow a large banner on which your proposal is written. You can get creative here, by combining the message in the air with your activities on the ground to craft something really fun and exciting.

The White Water Proposal

White water rafting is one of the funnest activities you can do with your girlfriend in the water. I’ll leave it to your imagination what else you can be doing there. A white water rafting trip through some rapids is both fun and exciting, with just a hint of danger thrown in for good measure. Just how much danger is up to your choice of guides, rivers, and the time of year. Typically, when rivers are swollen with runoff in late spring or early summer is when things really get wild.

Right after you’ve finished traversing a nice stretch of white water, get down on your knee (you may need to be on both, the bottom of those rafts aren’t the most stable places) and pop the question. Important: Make sure the ring is well secured to something so that it won’t end up in the water. You’d lose it forever.

The Banner Proposal
If she lives in the heart of the city, you can sometimes arrange to have a banner with your proposal on it hung on the building directly across the street from her apartment or condo. Make sure she can’t miss it when she looks out the window. If you can be there to watch her reaction, and give her the ring, so much the better.

The Diver Down Proposal
You can propose when you’re scuba diving or snorkeling. If there is a place where you both typically dive or you can get to a new place immediately before you both plan on diving there, you can set it up beforehand. Dive there first and either leave a plaque with your proposal on it, or arrange underwater rocks to spell out your proposal. As with the white water rafting proposal, make sure the ring is secured to your body, because if you drop it under water, getting it back may be a bit difficult.
The “Put It Where Everyone Can See It” Proposal
Take out a large ad in your local paper. The decline in newspapers over the last couple of years means that you can get large ads for a song, compared to what they cost a decade ago. You can pay for premium placement if your bank account or credit card balance will allow. If she is one of the few women that still read the paper daily, it will be more cost effective to place the ad on a weekday. If not, you can put it in Sunday’s paper. It’s perfect if she discovers it herself, while you’re there. You can help this along by getting placement in her favorite section. There are endless variations of ads you can use, from something simple, to really cool proposals, complete with graphics. Be careful though, if she doesn’t read the paper early, one of her friends or relatives may deliver the news first.

The “Put It Where Everyone Can See It” Proposal #2

Instead of using a newspaper, propose up on a billboard on her route to work. This can work very well, but it can also flop spectacularly. In many cases,, much to advertiser’s chagrin, people develop “ad blindness” to billboards and simply drive by them without noticing what’s on them. That means you’ll have to use something loud and creative to ensure she sees it when she passes by.

These are just some of the fun ways to propose marriage. There are plenty more, and variations of them to choose from. There will be more in a future post. Have a great weekend.
